Few pictures on this board show a drawbridge with foreign visitors standing before it, which makes this drawing stand out. The catalog ties it to Tokyo between 1850 and 1900, a period when treaties opened Japanese ports and Western travelers began arriving in the capital. The drawing is credited to Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo-period artist recorded as active from 1764 to 1788, and its catalog date of 1750 falls before that span, so the dating is uncertain. Its interest lies in the meeting of a traditional Japanese crossing with the visitors who came to see it.
