A drawbridge in Tokyo, with foreign visitors among its subjects, sets this drawing apart from the woodblock prints around it. The record lists the artist as Isoda Koryūsai, who was active in Edo from about 1764 to 1788, but it dates the work to 1750 and gives subjects from 1850 to 1900. Those dates do not fit together, so the drawing's true date is uncertain. Its catalog link to the David Murray Collection at the Library of Congress gives a useful route for researchers who want to resolve the question.
