A single drawing from the David Murray Collection shows a drawbridge in Tokyo, a subject the record links to foreign visitors to the city between 1850 and 1900. The record credits Isoda Koryūsai, who worked in Edo from the 1760s through the 1780s, yet dates the sheet to 1750, so the date may be approximate or the attribution may need checking. Drawbridges were common in Edo, where moats and canals divided the city, and images like this one give a sense of the city's layout and the structures that visitors of the period often remarked on.
