This color woodcut is a two-sheet diptych, so its left and right halves were designed to be read together as one scene. Each sheet was printed from several carved blocks, one for each color, a method that let ukiyo-e artists build up detailed, layered color. The engraver, Matsushima Seikichi, is credited with cutting the blocks that turned the designer's drawing into a printed image. The record's date of 1750 and its subject heading, which points to the early 1800s to mid-1800s, do not match, so the exact period is worth checking against other sources.
