Catalogued only as a Japanese drawing, this work is credited to Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo-period artist active from about 1764 to 1788 and best known for woodblock prints of women and courtesans. The record's details do not fully agree: it gives a date of 1750, which falls before his working years, while its subject tags point to drawbridges and foreign visitors in Tokyo between 1850 and 1900, a time after Japan opened to foreign trade and Edo was renamed Tokyo in 1868. The notes also file it under botanicals, so the subject is best treated as uncertain.
