This 1860 color woodcut is distinctive for its sewing machine, a rare sight in Japanese prints of the period. Its title, *Gaikokujin ifuku shitate no zu*, translates as "Foreign women engaged in dressmaking," and the catalog also notes a father and children in the scene. The print is signed Issen Yoshikazu, a name associated with the Utagawa school, whose artists often portrayed foreigners in Yokohama after that port opened to trade in 1859.
