The record describes a drawing of a drawbridge in Tokyo, a structure that would have been a familiar part of the city's waterways and roads, and the tags also point to foreign visitors there. The dates don't line up neatly, though. The record gives 1750, while the artist Isoda Koryūsai is listed as active from 1764 to 1788, and the subject period of 1850 to 1900 falls well after both. The city was called Edo until 1868, so the record's "Tokyo" label reflects its later name. Koryūsai was a known ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period, and his work is valued for its elegant, detailed depictions of everyday urban life.
