A single drawing, catalogued with subject headings for drawbridges in Tokyo and the foreign visitors who came to see them, sets this sheet apart from the prints around it. Those headings point to the years after Japan opened its ports in the 1850s, when the city was changing quickly and Western travelers began writing and sketching about it. The record credits Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo-based ukiyo-e artist active from the 1760s to the 1780s, but it also dates the work to 1750, which falls before his recorded career. The mismatch suggests the date is an estimate or that the sheet is a later work, so the subject matter is a better guide to its period than the date.
