Credited to Isoda Koryūsai, a painter and printmaker active in Edo from about 1764 to 1788, this single drawing reflects the refined line for which he is known, especially in his prints of women. The record's details do not line up neatly, though. It is dated 1750, which predates the artist's known career, and its subject headings name drawbridges and foreign visitors in Tokyo between 1850 and 1900. Tokyo was not the city's name until 1868, so those tags may describe a later context or were assigned loosely, and the notes also list botanicals as a theme. The date and subject terms are best treated as provisional.
