This is a drawing rather than a woodblock print, and its catalog subject is a drawbridge in Tokyo, with foreign visitors noted as a theme. The record credits Isoda Koryūsai, an ukiyo-e artist known mainly for prints, who was active from about 1764 to 1788. That working period does not fit the 1750 date on the record, so the date may be approximate or refer to a different stage of the work. The subject tags point to the late 1800s, when the city was still called Edo until its renaming as Tokyo in 1868 and when Japan reopened to foreign trade and travel.
