This drawing shows a drawbridge and foreign visitors in Tokyo, a subject that sets it apart from the more familiar Japanese prints on the board. The catalog credits Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo-based ukiyo-e artist who was active from 1764 to 1788, but gives a date of 1750, which predates his known working years. The subject headings place the scene in Tokyo between 1850 and 1900, a period when treaties opened Japanese ports and foreign residents and travelers became a regular sight in the city. Viewers may want to weigh the date and attribution against that later setting.
