A drawbridge and a group of foreign visitors set this drawing apart from the many Edo-period views of bridges and townsfolk. The record credits it to Isoda Koryūsai, an Edo ukiyo-e artist active from the 1760s to the 1780s, but dates it to 1750, which does not fit his working years. Its subject range, 1850 to 1900, points instead to Tokyo after Japan reopened to Western travelers, so the date and attribution may need checking against other sources.
