A drawbridge and a group of foreign visitors in Tokyo set this drawing apart from the many Japanese prints on the board. The record's dates don't agree, though: it lists 1750, but the artist Isoda Koryūsai worked roughly from 1764 to 1788, and the subject headings point to 1850 to 1900. Koryūsai was an Edo-period ukiyo-e painter and printmaker known for elegant figure studies and scenes of city life. Viewers should treat the attribution and date as uncertain until the Library of Congress catalog record is checked.
