This drawing centers on a drawbridge in Tokyo, a subject the catalog ties to foreign visitors to the city in the later nineteenth century. The record's dates conflict, though. It gives 1750 as the date, while the attributed artist, Isoda Koryūsai, is listed as active from 1764 to 1788, and the subject headings point to 1850 to 1900. Koryūsai was a known Edo-period ukiyo-e master, so the attribution may reflect his workshop or style rather than a firmly documented work, and the drawing's true date is best treated as uncertain.
