This three-sheet vertical triptych from 1853 pairs a courtly setting with a medical procedure. Its title refers to bone treatment and cautery, and the subject headings add nobility, rulers, physicians, and a board game. The three panels, each about 35 by 24 cm, join into one scene roughly 72 cm wide, so the room and its figures read across the sheets as a single composition. The date places the work just before Commodore Perry's arrival in 1853, a period when Edo-era print culture still circulated widely among urban audiences.
