Rather than a famous site or event, this vertical diptych shows one of the 108 outlaw heroes from *Water Margin*, the Chinese novel known in Japan as *Suikoden*. The record places it in a series titled *The Popular Edition of Suikoden*, whose warrior portraits drew on the Chinese tale and were produced for Edo-period townspeople. Printed across two oban sheets, the design gives the figure more room than a single sheet would allow. The record dates it between 1826 and 1830, a period when these heroic figures were widely sold and collected.
