A bird's-eye view of New Brighton, the North Shore village on Staten Island, gives a rare overhead look at a community that was once a popular summer destination for New Yorkers. By the early 1900s, ferry and rail connections had drawn visitors and residents to its waterfront hotels and resorts. The print is credited to photographer A. Loeffler and carries the number 926, but the catalog data comes from an old caption card and has not been independently verified, so the date of about 1905 is an estimate.
