From an overhead angle, this c1905 view takes in Central Avenue in New Brighton, the North Shore village that grew up around hotels and summer cottages in the 1800s. The elevated vantage, popular with commercial view makers of the period, makes the street's layout and rows of buildings easy to follow. The print carries the copyright mark of A. Loeffler and the number 929 from its caption card. The date and details come from that old card and have not been independently verified, but the scene fits a community that drew visitors by ferry and rail to the island's northeast shore.
