Lincoln Park in Portland, Maine, is the subject of this 8 by 10 inch glass plate negative, which dates from sometime between 1910 and 1920. The Detroit Publishing Company, which grew out of the Detroit Photographic Company in the 1890s, sent photographers across the country to record towns, parks, and streets for travelers and postcard makers. Its photographs were best known for the photochrom color prints made from them, and this negative is one of the original plates. It came to the Library of Congress as a gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado in 1949.
