Construction of the White-Gravenor building at Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., is caught here in October 1932, with the date taken from the title. Commercial photographers working for the National Photo Company documented the city's streets, buildings, and institutions in these years, and this negative is part of that collection, given to the Library of Congress by Herbert A. French in 1947. The record warns that the original coatings have deteriorated, so streaks and blemishes may appear across the image. Those flaws are part of the negative's physical history.
