A car bearing the name ARGO Auto appears with the White House visible in the background, placing an early motorcar against the nation's most recognizable address. The glass plate came from the National Photo Company, a Washington studio that recorded the capital's streets and buildings during the 1910s. Its title comes from the company's own notes and has not been independently verified, so the vehicle's maker remains uncertain. Streaks and blemishes across the plate reflect deterioration in its original coating.
