Georgetown University's White-Gravenor building is captured mid-construction in this October 18, 1932 view, when the Jesuit university was adding new academic space to its campus. The picture comes from the National Photo Company, a Washington firm that documented the city's streets, buildings and institutions for decades, and whose negatives are now held by the Library of Congress. The negative was a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947, and its record notes some streaking and blemishes from the deterioration of the original film coatings.
