The view is titled for J.C. Weedon & Co. in the Haines Building at Eighth and Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, placing it at one of the city's busy downtown corners. The negative comes from the National Photo Company collection, a commercial studio that photographed Washington's streets and storefronts in the early twentieth century. Its safety film base replaced the highly flammable nitrate stock used in earlier decades, which made such negatives far safer to store. The date is an estimate based on neighboring negatives, and the title is unverified.
