The view looks along Vermont Avenue toward L Street in northwest Washington, where a building the National Photo Company labeled the Medical Science building stands. That name comes from the company's notes on the negative sleeve and has not been independently confirmed. The National Photo Company was a commercial firm that recorded Washington's streets, buildings and monuments in the early twentieth century, and this glass negative is dated to around 1920 based on others in its range. Viewers should also notice the streaks and spots on the glass, which come from deterioration of the original coating rather than from the scene.
