The house at 1314 Wyoming Avenue in northwest Washington is tied in this record to the Harding name. Warren G. Harding and his wife, Florence, lived in the city while he served as a U.S. senator from Ohio, and the house drew interest from visitors in the years before his 1921 inauguration as president. The picture comes from the National Photo Company, which documented Washington streets and buildings for postcards and prints in the early twentieth century. The glass negative shows the streaks and blemishes that often develop as the original coatings age.
