The record names this building by its corner, 12th and H Streets in downtown Washington, D.C., but says little more about its history or tenants. The National Photo Company, which made the negative, documented the capital's streets and landmarks in the early twentieth century and sold its views as postcards and prints. The date of about 1920 is an estimate based on neighboring negatives, and the title is unverified. The glass shows streaks and blemishes from deterioration of its original coating, so those marks reflect the plate's age rather than the scene.
