The Wilkins Building, a Washington, D.C., structure, appears here under a title the National Photo Company wrote on the glass negative or its sleeve, and that title has not been independently verified, so its location and history are worth checking against city records. The picture is dated to roughly 1910 to 1920, when the company was photographing the capital's streets, public buildings and businesses for postcards and sale to visitors. Streaks and blemishes from the deteriorating coating on the glass are visible, which shows how the negative has aged as much as the scene it captured.
