Few interiors from turn-of-the-century Havana survive at this size, and this one shows the cathedral's nave as a visitor would have seen it in the early 1900s. The church, dedicated to Saint Christopher, was begun by the Jesuits in the mid-1700s and completed in the Baroque style that still shapes its interior. Detroit Publishing Company crews traveled widely to record cities and sites like this one, and their large glass negatives were used to make the color photochrom prints the firm sold as souvenirs and travel views.
