Teighness sits on the shore of Loch Long near Arrochar, in the Scottish Highlands, where the loch's dark water runs toward steep hills at the edge of the Arrochar Alps. This print belongs to the photochrom series that the Detroit Publishing Company sold in the United States, made by a Swiss process that turned black-and-white photographs into color prints using multiple stone lithographic plates. The record dates it to roughly the 1890s, when photochrom views of European scenery were popular as travel souvenirs and for display in homes. The catalog number 13096 places it among the company's Scottish landscape views.
