Kinhyōshi Yōrin is one of the 108 outlaw heroes who gather at Liangshan Marsh in the Chinese novel *Water Margin*, known in Japan as *Suikoden*. This vertical oban nishikie, a multicolor woodcut, belongs to the *Tsūzoku Suikoden* series, which Edo publishers issued in the late 1820s, when the novel's tales of loyal fighting men were enormously popular with townspeople. Prints like this turned each hero into a recognizable figure, with bold poses, dramatic costume, and richly inked color. They also offer a useful view of how samurai and warrior heroes were imagined in Edo.
