The record places this scene at Highland Road in Truro, Massachusetts, where Highland Light has stood on the outer Cape since 1797. Its subject note, however, describes the first lighthouse at Southwest Pass, Louisiana, so the title and subject line appear to conflict and should be checked against the original card. Either way, the view dates to 1867, when keeper's houses and plank walkways were common at isolated coastal lights, and stereographs like this were popular for home viewing.
