Its slogan ties a warning about loose talk to one port: a 1941 silkscreen asking residents to keep quiet about ship sailings so that New Orleans stays safe. Produced under the Federal Art Project of the Works Progress Administration, it reflects the home-front security campaigns that grew after the United States entered the war in December 1941. German submarines did operate in the Gulf of Mexico in 1942, which gave warnings like this practical weight along the Gulf Coast. A January 1943 date stamp on the face marks a later date for this copy.
