Ross "Tex" Erwin, a Brooklyn National League player, appears in this image at Ebbets Field, the club's home ballpark, which had opened in 1913. The original caption gives only his surname and team, so the date rests on later research by the Society for American Baseball Research's Pictorial History Committee. Made as a glass negative by the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied pictures to newspapers, it is part of the George Grantham Bain Collection at the Library of Congress.
