Its title urges young Spaniards to take up flight without an engine, a call to learn gliding during the Spanish Civil War. The poster was issued under the name of the Comisión de Educación del Soldado, a body whose name points to military training for young men. Gliders were a relatively inexpensive way to teach the basics of flight control, and many European countries in the 1930s promoted them as a route into aviation. As a color lithograph, the poster shows how wartime propaganda could present flight training as a patriotic duty.
