Asking the public to feed a single militiaman, this poster's Spanish title, *Racione a un miliciano*, makes a personal appeal for support of the front. It was issued by a committee to aid the Spanish government, linked to the Frente Popular, the leftist coalition that won the February 1936 elections and then faced the military uprising that began in July. Volunteer militias formed in the war's first months, and local committees like this one collected food and money to keep them supplied. The small line urging readers to read *La Nueva España* shows how these posters also carried news and rallied civilians to the cause.
