The title here names a statue of Stafford set within a cathedral, though the record gives no further detail about which statue or which building. The negative was made between 1920 and 1921 and belongs to the National Photo Company Collection, a commercial archive of views taken for sale to visitors and publishers. Its original caption was torn away, so the title was devised by Library of Congress staff, and the negative came to the Library as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. Streaks and other blemishes on the glass come from the decay of its original coating, which is worth keeping in mind when judging fine detail.
