A drawbridge over a Tokyo waterway, with foreign visitors among the figures, sets this drawing apart from the other Japanese works on the board. The record credits Isoda Koryūsai, who was active from the 1760s to the 1780s, but it also dates the work to 1750 and its subjects to 1850 to 1900, so the true date is uncertain. The later span covers the end of the shogunate and the early Meiji era, when Edo was renamed Tokyo and foreigners began to visit and live in the city. The bridge's construction and the visitors' clothing are useful clues to when the drawing was made.
