A glass negative of the bay at Wolfeboro, on the eastern shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, shows the water opening out beyond the town. Wolfeboro is often called one of the oldest summer resorts in New Hampshire, and by the early 1900s steamers, hotels, and cottages were drawing vacationers to the lake. The Detroit Publishing Company made large-format views like this one, many of them for travel promotion, so the picture reflects how the region was presented to visitors of that era. The date on the record is a estimate, given with a question mark.
