Women plowing a field in France form the subject of this American poster, which presents their farm labor as a model for readers at home. Printed in New York by Wynkoop Hallenbeck Crawford Co. between 1914 and 1918, it was issued under the United States Food Administration, the wartime agency Congress created in 1917 to manage food supplies and encourage conservation. Its headline, "Are you doing your part?", addressed Americans asked to eat less wheat and meat so that food could reach Allied armies and civilians in Europe, where many farms had lost male workers to the war.
