Owen Wilson is shown in his Pittsburgh National League uniform, the team he played for from 1908 through 1913. The 1911 season was his best, when he hit 36 triples, a single-season major league record that still stands. Bain News Service, a New York photo agency that sold pictures to newspapers, made the glass negative, which was catalogued under the caption "Wilson (Pitts)." The date comes from later research by the Society for American Baseball Research, so the picture gives a useful view of the deadball era's players and their working photographs.
