St. Patrick's Cathedral on Fifth Avenue is the setting here, pictured at Easter in 1911, when the church drew large congregations in their spring clothes. Completed in 1879 to designs by James Renwick Jr., the Gothic Revival cathedral was one of New York's most recognizable landmarks by the time this picture was made. It comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, the work of a New York news photography agency that supplied pictures to newspapers. The title and date come from caption information the Library of Congress describes as unverified, so the details are worth reading with that in mind.
