Cunard's new liner Lusitania makes her first appearance in New York harbor on September 13, 1907, a few days after her maiden crossing from Liverpool. Launched in 1906, she was among the largest and fastest ships afloat, and she soon won the Blue Riband for the quickest Atlantic passage. Pictures of her arrival capture the excitement of the period, when new steamships were redefining transatlantic travel and New York was the main gateway for immigrants and travelers alike.
