A family portrait of Manuel C. Tellez and relatives, dated October 30, 1922, stands apart from many National Photo Company views because of its private subject. The studio was a commercial business in Washington, D.C., in the early twentieth century, and many of its glass negatives later reached the Library of Congress, including this one, donated by Herbert A. French in 1947. The title and date come from studio information that has not been independently verified. Streaks and blemishes on the glass reflect natural deterioration of the original coating and are visible in the image.
