Two tall sandstone pillars rise from the wooded Bielatal near the Schweizermühle mill in Saxony, a landscape that visitors of the period came to see as part of the Saxon Switzerland region. The record gives the German title *Herkulessäulen bei Schweizermühle*, which points to the rock formations as the subject. This is a photochrom, a color print made by a process developed in Switzerland in the 1880s. The Detroit Publishing Company, which sold these prints in the United States, issued the view in its catalog around 1905. Its print number and catalog listing show how such scenic views were marketed to American buyers as souvenirs of European travel.
