Print making: A New Tradition" is a 1936 poster that promotes original color prints as a fresh artistic practice. Issued under the Federal Art Project, a New Deal relief program that employed artists during the Depression, it reflects the effort to bring art to public view. The record identifies the medium as silkscreen, a stencil process that allowed designers to print bold flat color in limited runs at modest cost. A March 1941 date stamp on the back shows that this copy stayed in circulation years after it was first printed.
