The Natural Food Company's conservatory, a glass-walled building in Niagara Falls, New York, appears here as two wide glass negatives joined into one panorama. The company made shredded wheat, a process its founder, Henry Perky, had first developed in Denver, and the Niagara Falls site drew on the cheap hydroelectric power the falls made available. Detroit Publishing Company photographers worked across the country in the years around 1900 to 1910, documenting towns, factories and landmarks for sale as views, so this picture records both a manufacturing site and a city proud of its industrial growth.
