Beneath the Girard Avenue Bridge looks up at the underside of the span, a vantage that shows its iron framework and the river below rather than the view from the bank. James Cremers, whose Stereoscopic Emporium on South Eighth Street in Philadelphia sold city views, issued the card, and B. L. Singley is listed as its copyright claimant. Stereographs like this were a popular parlor entertainment in the 1870s, and the bridge views of that period record the engineering that tied the city's neighborhoods together across the water.
