A platinum print of Dorothy Warrington, dated around 1910, presents a sitter about whom the record offers little beyond her name, so the portrait itself carries most of the story. Platinum printing produces soft, matte tones, and pictorialist photographers favored it because it made their work read as art rather than documentary record. The record connects the print to Paul Burty Haviland, who was affiliated with the Clarence H. White School of Photography, and the picture was reproduced in the 1996 catalog *Pictorialism into Modernism*, which traces that circle as it moved toward modernist approaches.
