Mazie Trumbull's 1906 color lithograph is a small theater poster, about 46 by 31 centimeters, printed by the Courier Company of Buffalo, a firm that produced a large share of the advertising posters for stage productions and touring performers in the early 1900s. The record also names John Cort in its notes and notes a U.S. copyright registration for the design, which shows that such advertising was registered and protected like other printed art. Posters like this were meant to be pasted in shop windows and along streets, so their bold color and simple layout were designed to catch the eye of passersby.
