Charles Frohman's production of *The Circus Girl* is announced on this 1897 poster, which carries the name of A.H. Canby as manager. Frohman was among the most prominent Broadway producers of his era, and his touring companies relied on eye-catching posters like this one to draw audiences. The sheet was printed in color lithography by A.S. Seer of New York and copyrighted that same year. Its bold colors and crowded layout show how theater advertising was designed to stop passersby on busy city streets.
